Background of the issue:
I have inherited a website that uses WPML and Elementor Pro. The site is 隐藏链接 and it is a live/production site. The previous developer who implemented the translations has passed away. I am aware of WPML's features but have limited experience with it. We have disabled WPML and associated plugins due to issues and deprioritizing Chinese translations. The plugins disabled are WPML Multilingual CMS, WPML String Translation, WPML Media, Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual, and Language Switcher for Elementor. We have taken out a new WPML Multilingual Blog subscription to seek support.

When I activate String Translation the site front end crashes (see attached grab)

Symptoms:
SVG files display fine in Elementor page edit screens but not on the front end. Enabling WPML Media alone has no effect. We see 'You are using an expired account of WPML. Extend your subscription' when any WPML plugins are enabled.

Questions:
Will downloading and activating the new WPML Multilingual Blog subscription cause disruption to the site?
Do we need a licence for the Multilingual CMS, or will a WPML Multilingual Blog subscription suffice?
Can we use the site simply as an English text website without WPML?
Will disabling and deleting WPML leave orphaned content, broken links, or legacy database content?
