We are currently experiencing several issues with WPML that started suddenly (it was working normally until last week), and translation is no longer behaving as expected.
Main problems:
Incorrect word count in Advanced Translation Editor
Elementor pages show significantly fewer words than the actual content.
Some texts from custom Elementor widgets are missing in ATE even though they exist on the page.
New translations cannot be created properly
In some cases, new translation jobs fail or do not initialize correctly.
High CPU usage during translation
Server CPU spikes to very high usage (near 100%) whenever a translation job starts or is processed.
ATE/XLIFF errors appearing in WPML error logs
We found the following error repeatedly in the Advanced Translation Editor logs:
Date: 2026/02/24 3:32:33 AM
Event: XLIFF Server Communication
Description:
"The uploaded xliff file doesn't belong to this system."
WPML Job ID: 210
ATE Job ID: 65336292
Extra data: الرابط المخفي
Additional context:
Site uses Elementor with several custom Elementor widgets.
A wpml-config.xml file is used to register custom widget fields.
Translation worked correctly before; issues began recently without structural changes to the pages.
We already tried:
Clearing WPML cache
Reloading WPML configuration
Regenerating Elementor CSS & data
Synchronizing local job IDs
Removing ghost entries
Despite this, the problems persist.
Could you please help investigate whether this is related to ATE job desynchronization or XLIFF mapping issues on the WPML side?
Please let us know if you need debug information, temporary access, or additional logs.
Thank you.
