Background of the issue:
I have a question about managing translated page slugs on my site 隐藏链接. We like that translators cannot change the slug inside the Advanced Translation Editor, as this keeps URLs consistent. However, in very rare cases, we need to update a translated page slug for SEO purposes.
Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.
Questions:
I understand the logic that when a new translation page is created in ATE, the slug is generated automatically from the translated title. That slug will remain intact (unchanged) even if the translator later updates the page title in ATE since this would harm SEO and page authority, correct?
Can we safely change the slug of a translated page manually in WordPress (ignoring the warning that changes may be lost)?
Could you please confirm the best practice for handling rare one-off slug changes for translated pages?
