Background of the issue:
We posted a new blog article on staging and then deployed to live. For some reason the primary language version redirects to the homepage, while the translated copy opens fine. On staging, everything works as normal. We checked everything on the server side and were advised that it's something to do with the WPML plugin. I've also tried re-publishing the article and it seems the issue re-occurs with any newly added post.
Symptoms:
