This week, we present an interview with OKODIA translation service. OKODIA is a globalized language provider focused on technical translations.

1. How long has your service been translating?

Our company was officially founded in 2011 so it is quite young. However, many people in our team have been working in the industry since around 2005 and since then we have been planting the seeds of what has become Okodia today.

2.  Where are you located?

Our business is located in Barcelona, Spain, although our team works from home offices in different places around the World. In Spain, we work in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, La Rioja, and Valladolid. In Germany, we work in Hamburg. In the UK, we work in London. In France we work in Paris, and in Argentina we work in Paraná. We also have a great team of collaborators working from almost every country in the world.

3.  What are your specializations?

Around 30% of our business is related to life-science and medical translations.

Around 30% of our business is related to legal translations.

Around 30% of our business is related to tourism, digital marketing, and communication.

Around 10% of our business is related to any other kind of translations 🙂

4.  How often do you translate websites?

On average, I’d say we translate around one to two websites per month. Some months more, some months less. The problem is that most clients still prefer to send their translations in Word or XLS and it is difficult for us to teach them about the benefits of exporting and importing content.

5.  What kinds of WordPress websites do you translate most often?

Mostly corporate websites of small or medium-size companies.

6.  What challenges do you find in WordPress websites?

The main issue is that our clients do not give us access to their Admin and most often our contact person is not familiar with the WP-Admin area. This often makes the steps to preparing the contents for translation with WPML challenging.

To solve this, we created a ‘quick guide for dummies’. It is a step-by-step guide that they can follow.

7.  How do you ensure that translations are accurate and match the tone of the website?

We only translate with native-language speakers in the target language who are specialized in the contents of the translation we are carrying out. We are also ISO 17100 certified, so we offer the review step to our clients so that the translation is accurate and matches the tone of the website.

We also try to be a colleague to our clients so that they can get involved in the process as if we were working together. Their product is thus our product as well.

8.  Can you give some examples of recent WordPress translations that you have completed successfully?

Ready to send content for professional translation?

Are you interested in taking your translations to the next level by using a professional translation service?

It’s easy:

  1. Make sure to have WPML Translation Management and WPML String Translation activated in your site.
  2. In the WordPress admin, go to the WPML -> Translation Management page and click the Translation Services tab.
  3. Activate the translation service of your preference and authenticate it. For this, you will need to create an account on that service’s website.
  4. Go to the Translation Dashboard on the WPML -> Translation Management page and select content to send for translation. Add selected content to the Translation Basket.
  5. Finally, go to the Translation Basket tab, select to translate it using the selected translation service and send it for translation.

You can find the full instructions on the page about sending content for translation.
