Background of the issue:
We got an update to our WordPress site where the supplier swapped our previously active WPML plugin with the gTranslate plugin. I tried to deactivate that and re-activate WPML which broke the site. Tried again on staging (activating WPML and deactivating gTranslate) but unsuccessfully.
Symptoms:
There is still the gtranslate string in the top right and no page works. The language switcher shows but does nothing.
Questions:
What do I need to do to get WPML back?...
