[נפתר] Classic Translation Editor removes 's from segments

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a list with tags inside and keep them after translation. More details can be found here: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpmlstripping-br-tags-in-the-translated-text/.

Symptoms:
The Classic Translation Editor removes tags from segments.
I expected to see the same markup, but instead, there is no markup at all for that list in the CTE, both on the original segment and its translation. There are no line breaks in the front end after translation either. A screencast of the issue is available here: קישור נסתר.

Questions:
Why does the Classic Translation Editor remove tags from segments?
How can I maintain the same markup after translation?
