Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate products on my site קישור נסתר using WPML. I have followed the documentation provided at https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/ and https://wpml.org/faq/translation-status-stuck-or-displaying-the-error-wpml-didnt-manage-to-translate-this-page/.

Symptoms:
The translation status remains at 'assign to local translation' even after completing the translation and attempting to edit and retranslate the content.

Questions:
Why does the translation status remain at 'assign to local translation' after completing the translation?
How can I resolve the issue of the translation status not updating?
