Overview of the issue
Elementor comes a built-in widget which easily allows you to add a language switcher to your website. However, some customization options are not available for it. For example, it’s not possible to disable the current language.
Workaround
As a workaround, you can add WPML’s wpml_language_selector_widget shortcode. Then, customize it by going to WPML → Languages → Custom language Switcher.
I would like to know if the blog plan works with elementor, I’m making my own business web. The blog plan works for my? Or I have to buy the Cms plan?
Hello there,
Our recommendation for translating a site created with Elementor plugin is the CMS plugin as it comes with WPML core plugin and WPML String Translation add-on.
You can find more information here:

Hello there,
I have reviewed this workaround – As a workaround, you can add WPML’s wpml_language_selector_widget shortcode. Then, customize it by going to WPML → Languages → Custom language Switcher.
However it does not provide me with what I need.
I need to build the language switcher to be a dropdown with the abbreviations of the countries. Like this:
EN
FR
ES
KW
and so on…
How can I do this?
Hey there,
I don’t think this errata applies for your case. If you need to change your languages abbreviations, you can do it from WPML > Languages > Site Languages.
If this does not help, please open a ticket in our support forum for help you better.
