Problem:
The client was experiencing a critical error when trying to update to the newest version of WPML, which resulted in the website crashing. The error message indicated a problem with a non-countable type being passed to the count() function in a specific file within the WPML plugin.
Solution:
We recommended the client to check for updates by navigating to WP > Plugins > Add New > Commercial and clicking on the "Check for Updates" button. Additionally, we asked the client to provide debug information by following the steps outlined at https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/.
Our 2nd Tier Support team identified and fixed an issue related to a problematic option stored in wp_options named 'auto-translation-job-creation-error'. After resolving this, WPML was activated without further issues.
