To remove the “This site is registered on wpml.org as a development site” notice, switch your site key from development to production in your WPML.org account.

What are production and development sites?

The following table outlines the difference between production and development sites, and the available quote each WPML plan includes.

Development sites display a banner with “This Site is Registered on wpml.org as a Development Site.” To remove the banner, you need to switch your site key from development to production.

How to switch a development site to production?

To switch a development site to production:

  1. Log into your WPML.org account and go to your registered sites.
  2. Click the gear icon next to the site you want to move to production.

  1. Enter the URL of your production site and click Publish.

The notice banner should no longer appear on your website.

What if the notice still appears after moving to production?

If you continue seeing the notice banner on your website, register WPML with a new site key. This will not cause you to lose any translations.

To register WPML with a new site key:

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New and click the Commercial tab. Click Unregister WPML from this site.

  1. Once the page loads, click on Register WPML. A message asking you to enter the site key will appear. Click on Get a key for this site.
  2. In your WPML account, complete the site key wizard and set it to Production site.

  1. Finally, copy your new key and paste it in the Commercial tab. When done, you can delete your old site key in the WPML account.
