Full Compatibility with WordPress 7.1
WordPress 7.1 is rolling out. We’ve run our full compatibility test suite against it and confirmed WPML works as expected, covering the changes detailed in the WordPress 7.1 field guide.
If you’re planning to update to WordPress 7.1, you can do so without worrying about your multilingual content breaking.
An Important Security Hardening Pass
This release includes a proactive security hardening pass across WPML and its add-ons with fixes. As always, we recommend using the latest version of WPML, for the best functionality and security.
Other Improvements
WPML 4.9.7 also fixes a display issue caused by WordPress 7.1 where Gutenberg’s taxonomy panel labels appeared in the admin language instead of the language you were actually editing in. For the complete technical list, see the full changelog for 4.9.7.
How to Update to WPML 4.9.7
Before updating, back up your site, files and database, so you can restore your previous setup if anything doesn’t go as expected.
WPML 4.9.7 is rolling out in phases, so it may take a few days to appear in your site’s available updates.
To update:
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin in your WordPress admin.
- Open the Commercial tab and select “Check for updates.”
- Install WPML 4.9.7 from the list of available updates.
