We release updates for all WPML plugins in batches. This allows us to monitor for any issues or side effects. Once we’re confident in the stability of the update, we gradually increase the rollout to more sites. The update becomes visible to everyone on the Plugins page only when we’ve released it to 100% of the sites.

Why do you use this gradual rollout process for WPML plugins?

We use a gradual rollout process for all WPML plugins, including our add-ons, to protect your site. Over a million diverse sites use WPML, each with unique configurations and setups. A single release with an issue could cause significant problems.

This cautious approach ensures each update is thoroughly tested and stable before reaching everyone. In case we find anything, we can pause the roll-out, fix the issues, and continue safely.

This also means you don’t need to stress when it’s time to update to a new version of WPML or any of our add-on plugins.

Can I manually check for WPML updates?

Yes, you can. However, unless you need to resolve an issue that the new WPML version specifically addresses, it’s better to wait for the update to automatically reach your site.

If you would like to update a WPML plugin before the new version reaches your site, you can manually check for it:

  1. From the backend of your WordPress site, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Click on the Commercial tab.
  3. Click Check for updates.

Why can’t I see the update even after I check for updates in the Commercial tab?

WPML updates can take up to 24 hours to reach all sites. If you can’t see the update immediately after checking in the Commercial tab, please wait a little longer before trying again.

When do WPML updates become available via hosting control panels like cPanel and Plesk?

As with the WordPress Plugins page, WPML updates become available through hosting control panels like Plesk or cPanel once we push the update to 100% of our clients.

If you want the update earlier or need it because it specifically addresses an issue you’re facing, you can manually check for and apply updates through the backend of your WordPress site.
