Problem:
The user was not able to access the translated site. Solution:
The pages some how lost language informations and became all registered in the primary language.
The translation needs to change the langueg and link to the original translations. Relevant Documentation: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/
Problem:
When attempting to connect content in one language as a translation of content in another language (pages and posts), some items do not show up in the list and therefore cannot be assigned as a translation.
Solution:
This is due to records in the database icl_translations that indicate that an item is in the process of being translated. This can happen due to a number of reasons but if you are certain that the items are not currently being translated, you can clean up the database manually:
Manually remove icl_translations table:
- Back up the database
- Run the following statement to find translations that are marked as currently being translated:
[php]SELECT * FROM icl_translations WHERE element_id IS NULL
- Find the records you are confident are not being translated and delete them from the database.
Problem:
Need to find the Divi Search Results page string Results for "%1$s" in order to translate it.
Solution:
This is a Theme Builder string under the et_builder domain that.
I was able to get the string to show up under WPML -> String Translation by scanning the theme for translatable strings. You can do this in the future by following these steps:
To scan for and register theme strings:
- Go to WPML -> Theme and plugins localization
- Scroll down to the Strings in the themes section
- Find Divi and check the box next to it
- Click the Scan selected themes for strings button
To translate the string:
- Go to WPML -> String Translation
- Search for the string using the search and filter options
- The correct string to translate in this case found under the et_builder Domain
- Click on translations next to the string to provide your translations
- Check the box next to Translation is complete
- Click the Save button
Problem:
I'm translating a Finnish website with Woocommerce to English, using The7 as theme.
Everything's going okay so far but I can't get English checkout to work. I've clicked the plus-icon for my Finnish Checkout and Cart pages to create the english translations, then I copy the content from original Finnish pages, and change the texts and leave shortcodes as they were. I have also tried to use the Translation management method...
Cart dropdown shows two buttons: View cart & Checkout. View cart goes to melomo.fi/en/cart, but Chekcout goes to melomo.fi/kassa which is the default Finnish cart page.
Solution:
Go to Woocommerce -> Settings -> Payments-tab and in Klarna checkout I had the finnish checkout link in the "Custom Checkout Page - Finland " field. It seems the checkout pages work as intended now in Finnish and English.
