Background of the issue:
I was trying to fix an issue where a post on a website we support didn't show the post content, although it appeared correctly in the editor. After researching, I found that a link had a hyperlink to "link oculto;. The last (wrong) character was breaking the preg_replace function at /sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/absolute-links/absolute-links.class.php, line 450, causing the text to be set as null.

Symptoms:
The post content was not displaying on the website, despite appearing correctly in the editor. The issue was traced to a hyperlink with an incorrect character that broke the preg_replace function.

Questions:
How can such crashes be handled more gracefully in the future?
