WPML

WPML only stores cookies (opens in a new tab) that are important for it to function properly.

Cookies prefixed with an underscore (_) are only used on the WordPress backend.

List of WPML Cookies

The following is the list of all cookies stored by WPML:

  • wp-wpml_current_language – Stores the current language. This cookie is enabled by default on sites that use the Language filtering for AJAX operations feature.
  • wp-wpml_current_admin_language_{hash} – Stores the current WordPress administration area language.
  • _icl_visitor_lang_js – Stores the visitor’s browser language once WPML has checked it, for example after a redirect or after the visitor answered the language bar. While it exists, WPML doesn’t redirect them or show the bar again. This cookie is enabled for all site visitors if you use the browser language redirect or the language bar.
  • _icl_visitor_chosen_lang – Stores the language a visitor picked in the language switcher, for the number of days you set. On multisite, the name ends with the site ID, for example _icl_visitor_chosen_lang_2. This cookie is enabled if you show returning visitors the language they picked.
  • wpml_browser_redirect_test – Tests if cookies are enabled. WPML deletes it right after the test. This cookie is set for all site visitors if you remember the language visitors pick, show the language bar, or redirect visitors by browser language (see Visitor language).

Read our Privacy Policy and GDPR Compliance page for more information about the cookies we use on wpml.org and how we handle and protect your data.

List of WCML Cookies

The following is the list of all cookies stored by WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCoomerce (WCML) addon plugin:

  • client_currency – Stores the visitor’s selected currency so prices stay consistent across pages, especially when a caching plugin uses cookies to display different currency versions of the site.
  • client_currency_language – Stores the currency associated with the visitor’s language (when different languages use different currencies). Ensures prices stay correct across pages when caching relies on cookies.
  • _wcml_order_currency – Stores the currency of the currently displayed Order in WooCommerce.
  • _wcml_reports_currency – Stores the currency of the currently displayed report in WooCommerce.
  • _wcml_dashboard_currency – Stores the currency selected on the WordPress dashboard.
