Background of the issue:
I have been using WPML Multilingual CMS 4.7.6 to translate my website. The site is currently in English (default language) and Slovenian (translated language).
When checking the Media Library in Slovenian, I noticed that the Image Titles remain in English, and the Alt and Description fields are missing.
Symptoms:
When I clicked Edit, a pop-up suggested using the Advanced Translation Editor. However, no matter whether I clicked the button to use it or Edit Anyway, I stayed on the same page—there was no difference.
I then updated WPML Multilingual CMS to the latest version, where I saw a new “Media Translation” section under Settings. I enabled the option Automatically detect best options for translating image texts (alt, caption, title), but the issue in the Media Library remained exactly the same.
After that, I found in the documentation that a separate Media Translation plugin is available. I checked the OTGS Installer plugin in my Plugins list. Since it was deactivated, I clicked Activate—but the plugin remains deactivated no matter what I do.
I then went to Plugins → Add Plugin → Commercial and tried to install the plugin there. The installation appeared successful, but I could not find the plugin anywhere.
Finally, I downloaded the plugin manually, installed it, and now I can translate Image Title, Alt, and Description texts from English to Slovenian.
Questions:
1. Is using the Media Translation plugin the correct way to translate image metadata from EN to SL?
2. Why does the OTGS plugin remain deactivated, and why was I unable to install the Media Translation plugin via the Commercial tab?
