Problem:

The client is updating their website and encountered issues with WPML, causing errors due to an outdated site key and plugin versions. They are also unable to update the WPML Media Translation plugin through OTGS and are concerned about losing translations when changing the site key.

Solution:

We recommend taking the following steps to resolve the issues:

1. Ensure you perform a full site backup (mandatory) before making any changes.
2. To resolve the site key mismatch and update issues:
- Navigate to your WPML account page at https://wpml.org/account/sites/
- Delete the existing site key.
- Go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial tab in your WordPress dashboard.
- Click on "Unregister WPML from this site" and refresh the page.
- Click on "Get a key for this site" and copy the newly generated code.
- Return to the Commercial tab and register the site with the new key.
3. Changing the site key will not delete or clear your existing translations or WPML configuration, as confirmed in our support interaction.
