Background of the issue:
I am in the process of translating the categories and sub-categories of my site and have hidden all the secondary languages from the WPML Languages settings because the categories and sub-categories are not translated. When someone clicks on these categories or sub-categories, they receive a 404 error message due to the lack of translation. I am considering activating the 'Translatable use translation if available or fallback to default language' option in the WPML settings under Taxonomies Translation.

Symptoms:
Visitors receive a 404 error message when clicking on untranslated categories or sub-categories.

Questions:
If I activate the 'Translatable use translation if available or fallback to default language' option, will it prevent the 404 error message and redirect to the default language?
Will activating this option have a negative impact on Google's referencing?
