The website is consuming too many resources and so it is affecting the overall performance of the MySQL server. FTP access is still possible. I assume the problem is based in the cache. Symptoms: The website is consuming too many resources, affecting the MySQL server's performance. Questions: How can I optimize the site with cache? What steps should I take to reduce resource consumption?

Background of the issue:
Our server provider 'simply' emailed us regarding our website being an overload to their server which made them temporarily shut us down.
