Background of the issue:
I was trying to fix a bug where after any product update, all subcategories don't show products. The site was live for months, everything was properly translated and updated, and one day it broke. I can't find the reason why.

Symptoms:
After any product update, subcategories don't show products. Instead, I see subcategories on the subcategories page, the same view as in the categories. This bug always appears after any product update, even without any changes made.

Questions:
Why do subcategories not show products after a product update?
How can I update products without causing this issue?
