Changelog

This release makes site-key registration hold up when wpml.org throttles or times out, stops needless subscription checks, and fixes what the Activate & Update page shows when the products feed cannot be reached.

Site key and registration

  • When wpml.org answers that your site key is invalid, the site no longer keeps that key as its subscription key and acts as registered; it shows the registration box instead.
  • A site key defined in wp-config.php keeps its registration when wpml.org only throttles or times out.
  • On a network where sites define different keys, one key is registered and the site with the other key is named, instead of the sites re-registering the key back and forth.
  • On multisite, the WPML subscription is stored in the network settings only.
  • Users with WPML’s Support capability can refresh the site key.

Subscription checks and page speed

  • The subscription is read from wpml.org once per request, and after a failed or refused answer the site waits before asking again, instead of revalidating the key many times a second.
  • Several refresh requests arriving at once validate the key once, and a refresh with nothing to update answers without an error.
  • Writing the Installer log no longer takes a database lock, so database servers that refuse named locks show no database error.

Activate & Update page

  • The registration box keeps its controls in every account state, instead of rendering empty.
  • When the WPML products feed cannot be reached, your WPML products stay listed.
  • Switching the update channel refreshes the list and installs nothing, and after switching back to Production the download gives you the production version.
  • A plugin’s release notes show that plugin’s notes, not another plugin’s.
  • A Multilingual Blog account sees the plugins the Multilingual CMS plan adds, listed with a link to the plan instead of a download, and every row’s checkbox is named for screen readers.

Errors and warnings fixed

  • No fatal error on Activate & Update when no product matches the subscription type.
  • No fatal error on the Commercial tab when re-registering a site key, or on any other screen that shows the subscription expiry warning.
  • A site moved to another server no longer hits a fatal error reading the Installer’s stored settings.
  • Plugin checks and update screens skip a product that has no download available, so the Plugins page logs no PHP notices.
  • The plugin update entry carries the required WordPress version, so WP-CLI prints no warning on every plugin list.
  • Plugins no longer show “Not tested with your current version of WordPress” on WordPress point releases.

Also in this release

  • Log entries written by concurrent requests are all kept.
  • The “communication error details” link in connection notices opens the Installer log in WPML’s Support tools.
  • The plugin’s translations are refreshed in every language it ships.

Security

  • Security hardening of the plugin download request.

Update or download

The update is available to all WPML clients with an active subscription — it appears on the Plugins page in your WordPress admin within 24 hours of release. You can also check for it right away under PluginsAdd New PluginCommercial. To download and install manually, go to Downloads in your wpml.org account (see the installation instructions) and remember to update all components together without mixing versions.
