Changelog

This release makes site-key activation and plugin recommendations more reliable, fixes the Add Themes tab, adds missing translations, and includes a security update.

Site key and activation

  • Fixed a critical error on the WPML → Activate & Update page that occurred when your stored subscription had no product data.
  • Fixed a fatal error on admin screens on PHP 8.4 caused by an incorrectly declared parameter.
  • Added a clear message when your site key has been deleted, instead of the confusing “Development Site” banner.
  • Made a failed products check show one clear notice instead of leaving the screen without feedback.

Plugin recommendations and Add Themes

  • Fixed the commercial tab no longer preselecting recommended plugins when WPML core is inactive.
  • Stopped the Installer from showing WPML add-on recommendations when WPML itself is not active.
  • Fixed the Add Themes tab, which had stopped working.

Translations

  • Added WPML plugin translations for supported language variants so you no longer see English text fall back in.
  • Localized the lead descriptions shown in the Installer.

Also in 5.0.0

  • Fixed a broken icon URL in the “development site” banner.

Security

This release includes security hardening.

Update or download

The update is available to all WPML clients with an active subscription — it appears on the Plugins page in your WordPress admin within 24 hours of release. You can also check for it right away under Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial. To download and install manually, go to Downloads in your wpml.org account (see the installation instructions) and remember to update all components together without mixing versions.
