Changelog

Support for Yoast SEO Schema Aggregation, SEO heads per language over REST, and 25 fixes for Yoast SEO and Rank Math.

What's new

  • Yoast SEO 27.1 Schema Aggregation is fully supported on multilingual sites.
  • REST requests for a page's SEO head return it in that page's language.
  • Yoast SEO's readability analysis runs in the language of the content, not the admin language.
  • Rank Math sitemaps include the translated archive pages of custom post types.
  • Changes made in Yoast SEO's bulk editor update the translation status of the post.

Performance

  • Faster pages: WPML and WPML SEO take far fewer call-stack traces, including on every read of Yoast SEO term data in the admin.

Fixes

  • With Yoast SEO's category-base stripping and No Category Base (WPML), /favicon.ico no longer redirects to itself endlessly.
  • Rank Math XML sitemap pages no longer repeat some posts and drop others when posts share a modified time, with a domain per language.
  • Sitemap pagination is correct.
  • Rank Math Shop sitemap hreflang alternates use each language's own slug on every domain.
  • Yoast SEO Shop sitemap hreflang alternates use each language's own slug on every domain.
  • Yoast SEO Premium redirects with a domain or parameter per language no longer capture the other language's URL or point to the default domain.
  • Rank Math primary terms of other taxonomies are copied and mapped to translations.
  • The Rank Math breadcrumb Home link points to the home page in the current language.
  • IndexNow accepts the URLs of every language, because the IndexNow plugin no longer places its key location in a language directory.
  • Rank Math with IndexNow submits second-language URLs when the default language uses a directory.
  • Rank Math's Instant Indexing submits the correct URL for translated content automatically.
  • The text values of every Rank Math schema type can be translated.
  • Rank Math accepts a translated URL on its own language domain when building the page head.
  • Approving translation reviews works with Rank Math SEO PRO and customized permalinks.
  • With Rank Math's Remove Base setting on, REST requests are no longer redirected to a product whose slug matches the endpoint.
  • Rank Math's custom author base slug is translated.
  • Product category archive URLs work in secondary languages after upgrading WooCommerce Multilingual to 5.6.x, also on sites that had the base translated.
  • Yoast SEO meta fields set to Copy are synchronized to translations.
  • Yoast SEO's primary category syncs to translations for custom taxonomies.
  • Yoast SEO meta descriptions show on duplicated pages.
  • The "Hreflang tags moved to your sitemap" notice reaches admins in every admin language.
  • Search results pages no longer show a PHP 8.1+ "ltrim(): Passing null" deprecation notice when Yoast SEO breadcrumbs are enabled.
  • Calendar embeds no longer cause "urlencode(): Passing null" deprecation warnings.
  • When a headless site asks Yoast SEO for the home page's head over REST, the social title and description now match the page in that language.
  • Built and released together with WPML 5.2.0, with the same shared library version.
