Problem:
The client experienced slow AJAX calls for adding and removing items from the cart on their WooCommerce site when the WPML String Translation plugin was active. The issue persisted even after deleting all string translations.
Solution:
We recommended the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Create a full site backup.
2. Update all outdated plugins and themes, especially WPML plugins.
3. Flush any cache memory.
4. Deactivate all plugins, including WPML ones.
5. Activate a default WordPress theme, then the parent theme.
6. Reactivate the WPML plugins, WooCommerce, and WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency plugins.
7. Add products to the cart to check if the performance issue persists.
8. If resolved, reactivate the child theme and other plugins one by one to identify the problematic plugin.
The client found that the issue was caused by the 'woopayments' plugin, specifically its multi-currency option.
