Background of the issue:
I am trying to network activate the WPML plugin on a WordPress multisite installation and generate the .mo files required for translations to display correctly on the front-end. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: versteckter Link
Symptoms:
I expected to see the .mo files generated successfully, allowing translated strings to appear on the front-end without errors or repeated prompts. Instead, I got repeated error messages: A prompt stating that .mo files need to be generated for translations to work on the front-end. Upon attempting to generate the .mo files, an error message indicating that the .mo files could not be created. The issue loops back to the original prompt to generate .mo files, without resolving the problem. This prevents translations from being displayed on the front-end.
Questions:
Why are the .mo files not being generated when I network activate the WPML plugin?
How can I resolve the error messages and successfully generate the .mo files?
