We have created a site in English with its content. Afterwards The client gave us the translation in French and German which we inserted. It was only afterwards that she wanted French to be the main language.
We therefore changed the order of languages on the languages page and put French as the main language.
What I notice, however, is that translation always seems to have to be done from English into other languages. In fact I modified a page in French and in the list of pages no symbol invites me to update the page in the other languages. Also if I go to the Translations page, I would see that all the translated pages are in the direction EN->FR or EN-DE
My message is to understand how to act next:
1) should I continue to first modify my site in English (in the divi builder) then do the translation into the other languages or can I directly modify a page in French (in the divi builder for example)? In the latter case I have no possibility of updating the translations.
2) can we change the translation direction?
3) if now I have made a big modification in French and the system does not allow me to update the other languages, how do I proceed to update the other languages?
I realize a problem. I made a modification to an english page (in the divi builder), staying in english in the wordpress admin I saw the icon "update" in the pages list next to the page. I clicked on the page I just edited in english, and the advanced translator showed me 50% of the french text who its on that page, then many fields are empty not translated while on the webiste the page is totally translated !
So I'm lost. Should I enter again the french text in the advanced translator or not?

Merci d'avoir contacté le support de WPML. Je vais vous répondre en Français car nous sommes sur le support FR mais si vous préférez l'Anglais dites le moi.
1. Les traductions se font toujours de la langue primaire vers les langues secondaires. Donc votre page Anglaise est l'originale, et le Français et l'Allemand sont les traductions.
2. Ensuite vous avez changé la langue principale pour le FR. Donc toute nouvelle traduction devrait se faire du FR vers EN et DE
3. Maintenant que faire avec les traductions déjà existantes?
- Vous pouvez soit continuer de traduire EN vers FR et DE
- Ou vous pouvez faire la manipulation suivante pour que la page FR devienne l'originale:
Attention la mémoire de traduction sera vide dans ce cas là puisque c'est la première fois que vous allez traduire du FR vers le EN
> Allez dans "Pages" en FR et éditez la page en question,
> Dans la barre latérale à droite, vous verrez que cette page est la traduction d'une page Anglaise, dans ce menu déroulant choisissez "ceci est la traduction de: VIDE" et sauvegardez la page
> La page FR devient alors "indépendante"
> Faites la manipulation inverse "Ceci est la traduction de: [choisissez la bonne page EN]"
> Vous aurez une pop-up pour lier les traductions ensembles et il y a une case à cocher pour faire du FR (la langue sur laquelle vous êtes) la langue principale
> le FR sera alors l'original et EN la traduction
