You can manually update WPML by reinstalling it via the OTGS Installer plugin. This process keeps your existing translations intact and re-enables automated updates.

Sometimes, the automatic update of WPML may fail due to conflicts or incompatibilities. In such cases, you can update it manually.

Before you update WPML manually, create a database backup of your site. You can do this by using plugins like Duplicator and BackupBuddy, or by exporting your database using your hosting control panel.

Once done, to manually update WPML:

  1. Log in to your WPML.org account and go to the Downloads page. Find the OTGS Installer plugin and download it.
  2. On your site, go to Plugins → All Plugins and deactivate and delete WPML and all its components.
  3. Next, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin to upload and activate the OTGS Installer plugin. This will automatically take you to the Commercial tab.
  4. Select the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin and the necessary WPML components for your site. Then, check Activate after download and click Download.
