Changelog
This release makes ACF field-group translation setup clearer, fixes repeater and flexible content rows drifting out of sync in translations, and improves how link, media and Options Page fields are translated.
A more guided way to set up field-group translation
- A new Multilingual Setup screen lets you review and set the translation option for every ACF field group in one place.
- Field groups without a translation mode are now automatically set to “Same fields” when you complete the WPML setup wizard or turn on Translate Everything.
- When a post’s field groups use different translation options, the editor now lists each one with a link to fix it.
- Changing a field’s translation preference in Expert mode now shows a confirmation before it re-translates your content.
Repeater and flexible content fields
- Reordering, adding or removing rows in a repeater or flexible content field no longer scrambles the matching rows in translations.
- Translations can no longer change the repeater row structure when a field group shares the same fields across languages.
Link and URL fields
- A link field’s custom title and URL are now sent for translation instead of being silently copied.
- Internal links inside Link and URL fields, including archive links, are now translated automatically.
- Custom link text is kept when translating duplicated pages.
Media translation
- Alt text, captions and titles from ACF image and gallery fields now appear in the translation editor when media library text translation is enabled.
- You now see a notice when ACF media texts won’t be translated because “Translate Media Library texts” is off, with a link to turn it on.
- Gallery, image and file field attachments are now always included in translation packages, and adding an image to a gallery correctly marks the translation as needing an update.
ACF Options Pages
- Content on ACF Options Pages created before WPML was set up is now sent for translation without needing a manual re-save.
- Copy fields on Options Pages that existed before WPML are now filled in secondary languages.
- Copy-once subfields inside a Group on an Options page now copy correctly to secondary languages.
ACF blocks
- Link fields set to Copy inside an ACF block now correctly apply that preference to their title and URL.
- Translation preferences are now respected for Clone and Group fields used inside blocks, and fields no longer drop out of translation jobs.
Also in this release
- Field groups on taxonomy terms are now translated automatically and can be read correctly on the translated term.
- ACF conditional logic rules that depend on a relational field now work correctly in secondary languages.
- The checked state of copied checkbox and radio fields is now clearly visible when editing a translation.
- Fixed a fatal error that could occur when editing an ACF Options page in a secondary language without WPML String Translation installed.
- Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual now follows WPML 5.0’s new way of switching languages, so every page keeps the language it was built in.
- Posts with field groups using different translation options are no longer wrongly translated by Translate Everything, and posts using Localization-mode field groups are no longer wrongly queued for bulk translation.
Security
- This release includes security hardening.
