Ce sujet est résolu. Voici une description du problème et de la solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with missing excerpt images on their English homepage, while they display correctly on the French homepage using the Divi theme.
Solution:
1. Check WPML Media Translation Settings:
* Go to WPML → Settings.
* Scroll down to the Media Translation section.
* Ensure the options Duplicate uploaded media to translations and Duplicate featured images to translations are checked.
* Click the Apply button to save changes.
2. Process Existing Media:
* Navigate to WPML → Media Translation.
* If any images haven't been duplicated to English, use the Start or Translate media buttons to duplicate existing media.
3. Update an Affected Post Translation:
* Go to Posts → All Posts.
* Edit the translation of a French post missing its excerpt image on the English homepage by clicking the plus or pencil icon under the English language column.
* In the Advanced Translation Editor, even without text changes, scroll down and click Complete to update the translation.
* Repeat for other affected posts.
4. Clear Your Site's Cache:
* Clear any caching plugins or server-side caching to ensure the homepage updates are visible.

After following these steps, check the English homepage to see if the excerpt images appear correctly. If the issue persists or the solution seems outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi,
In my French posts, I always put an image as an excerpt. Then on my homepage, I have a list of all my posts with the text and image excerpt. It works correctly in French but not on my English homepage. Some posts have the excerpt image, while others don't.
You can see the French homepage there: lien caché
And the English one there: lien caché with the missing images.
How can I fix it?
Thanks

Hi Human support,
I did some searching with your AI. Do I need to summarize it? Or can you have a look to it?

To summarize:
I follow this process for translation:
1/ I write a new post in French
2/ I do an automatic translation with the AI of WPML
3/ I do the check, and when I'm comfortable with the latest version, I switch to the WP editor as there are usually a few changes between the French and the English version.
4/ Then I publish the English version of the post.

My issue is that not all media (images) are translated during the automatic WPML process. That means I don't get all the excerpt images in the English version.

Your AI showed me how to manually translate the non-translated images in the WPML media settings. It can help in the short term, but I need to find out how to resolve the issue and ensure that all media is automatically translated with WPML.

FYI I'm using Divi 4.

You can see the French homepage there: lien caché
And the English one there: lien caché with the missing images. (For the Paris Berlin articles, I added the excerpt image manually.

Thanks for your assistance

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the WPML support team.

There is a major flaw with the workflow you are currently following. Mixing editors is not recommended and is prone to causing translation problems. When you use AI translation (which relies on the Advanced Translation Editor – ATE), you should only edit translations through ATE. Switching to the WordPress editor or Divi to edit the translated content must be avoided.

The first step is to fix the workflow by applying the required content translation changes directly in the Translation Editor.

Please note that it is possible to edit translations using the WordPress editor or Divi, but this requires manual unlinking of translations and several additional steps. Let me know if you would like instructions for this approach.

Regarding the image texts that are not being translated, could you please confirm that these texts are set to be included in translation under WPML → Settings → Media Translation, as described here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/

We can further debug this to ensure these texts are translated automatically. Alternatively, you can translate the image texts manually using WPML → Media Translation, as explained in the documentation linked above.

Let me know how you would like to proceed.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you.

Just to clarify my process:
– I do the English translation exclusively using the WPML AI Editor.
– I switch to the WordPress editor only once the translation is fully completed.
– I need to do this because I usually make a few adjustments to the English post with the Divi Builder before publishing it. For instance, I remove the newsletter subscription box, as my newsletter is available only in French.

Is there a way to keep using the WPML AI Editor, as you suggested, while still making the minor changes I need in the translated version?

Hello,

I see the use-case here and we call this "manual translation" with different design,

If you are looking to edit a page that has already been translated automatically (translated by the WPML editor) using your site's editor, you must follow this exact process:

1- Unlink the translation: https://wpml.org/fr/faq/how-to-disconnect-translations-from-the-default-language-page-or-post/

2- Edit the translation using your site's editor

3- Relink the translation: https://wpml.org/fr/faq/how-to-disconnect-translations-from-the-default-language-page-or-post/

But this means that you will only be able to use automatic translation for the initial translation, and that any subsequent changes will have to be made manually by you, the page will no longer be compatible for future automatic translation.

This is exactly what I do and until recently it worked well.

However, I don't understand why some images are not translated during the automatic phase. And for that reason, they disappear in the excerpt in English?

As you can see the difference between my two homepages :

Hello,

For the excerpt, I would need to check your backend myself, replicate the issue and debug the code, is it possible to share an admin access to your site below? please save a backup of your site.

Best,

Hi again,
In fact, I found a way to manage the excerpt issue. There are only 7 posts concerned. For those articles, and future ones, I will switch to the WPML editor to replace the WP editor. I already did it for 2 posts, and it solved the issue.
I found a way to get the same texts in both language versions. So I can keep the WPML editor i the future.
Thanks for your help
