Hello WPML,

I’m currently working on a German website that is translated into Spanish using WPML.

I need to link specific image elements to the Spanish version of the site, so that the Spanish pages display different images than the German original. To achieve this, I used the WPML Media Translation feature and replaced the image for the Spanish language.

However, although the image replacement appears correctly in the Media Translation interface, the change is not reflected on the frontend page.

Details:

Original language: German

Translated language: Spanish

Image replacement was done via: WPML → Media Translation

The issue can be seen on this page:
versteckter Link

Expected behavior:

The Spanish version of the page should display the Spanish image version instead of the original one.

Current behavior:

The page still shows the image
versteckter Link

even though a different image is assigned for Spanish in Media Translation.

Question:

Is there an additional step required to ensure that media translations are applied on the frontend (e.g. resaving the page, clearing WPML caches, or specific settings related to media duplication or theme compatibility)?

Any guidance on how to properly replace language-specific images so they appear correctly on translated pages would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Hello Mr. Martin,

At present, we can confirm that the image displayed in Spanish corresponds to the configuration defined in the Translate Media settings, and the functionality therefore appears to be operating as intended.

Could you please confirm whether you are still experiencing this issue? If so, we would appreciate it if you could provide one specific and recent example for our review.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hello Mr. Garcia,

Could you please explain to me exactly how you replaced the image and what steps need to be taken in order to replace the image in Media Translator so that it appears permanently on the page? We need to adjust images regularly and I suspect that you are using a different procedure.

Do you offer training for such work steps?

Thank you in advance.

*One of your colleagues swapped the image, which is why the translation then worked.

Hello Mr. Martin,

We generally avoid making changes directly on client websites, and there is no indication that an exception was made in this case. It may therefore be worth considering whether the change could have been introduced by another administrator or process with access to the site.

At present, we do not offer formal training programs; however, you may consult our official documentation for detailed guidance on media translation at the following link:

Should you encounter the same issue with any other image, please let us know so that we may investigate the matter further.

Thank you for your understanding.
