This might restore the functionality of the classic language box. 2) Alternatively, export the Divi layout from the English version and overwrite the current layout of the existing English page. I have the Classic Translation Editor enabled and I don’t want to use the Translation Manager or Translation Dashboard. I simply want to manually link existing pages — for example, connect a German page with an already existing English version. Currently, these WPML modules are active: WPML Multilingual CMS, WPML SEO, WPML String Translation. The Translation Management plugin is not active.

I’m having trouble linking existing translations manually. I would like to assign an already existing English page as the translation of a German page without using the Translation Manager or Advanced Translation Editor.
However, the classic language box (“This page is a translation of…”) no longer appears in the post editor.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Enabled Classic Translation Editor:
In WPML → Settings → Translation Editor, I selected the Classic Translation Editor and disabled the Advanced Translation Editor.
Confirmed active modules:
Currently active WPML modules:
WPML Multilingual CMS
WPML SEO
WPML String Translation
The Translation Management module is not active.
Checked “Post Types Translation” settings:
I only see the following three options (no “use native WordPress editor” available):
Translatable – only show translated items
Translatable – use translation if available or fallback to default language
Not translatable
Followed AI assistant instructions:
I was told to switch to the WordPress Editor directly from the post editing screen (via the Language meta box → “WordPress Editor”).
I selected All Pages, confirmed, and applied the change.
After doing this, I still see the Advanced Translation Editor interface, not the native WordPress editor.
Troubleshooting steps:
Cleared WPML caches in WPML → Support → Troubleshooting (e.g., “Clear language information cache”).
Reloaded settings and posts, but the manual linking option still doesn’t appear.
So far, nothing has brought back the manual “Connect with translations” field in the post editor.
Could you please check what might be enforcing the Translation Editor or hiding the native linking option in my setup?

das manuelle Verknüpfen ist in Ihrem ersten Screenshot unter „Mit Übersetzungen verbinden“ zu sehen – direkt unter dem Dropdown-Feld mit „Deutsch“. Diese Funktion ist für den Vorgang korrekt und unabhängig vom verwendeten Editor.
ja genau, das ist die Funktion, die ich suche. Allerdings wird mir bei der Seite, die ich gerne mit der englischen Seite verknüpfen möchte, diese Option einfach nicht angezeigt.

vielen Dank für den Zugang. Die Spracheinstellungen waren korrekt. Ich vermute, dass das Problem daran lag, dass bereits eine Übersetzung gestartet wurde.
Sie haben zwei Möglichkeiten:
1) Löschen Sie die begonnene Übersetzung und versuchen Sie anschließend erneut, die Seiten zu verknüpfen.
2) Oder exportieren Sie das Divi-Layout der EN-Version und überschreiben Sie damit das aktuelle Layout der bestehenden EN-Seite.
Ich habe zum Test einen neuen Beitrag angelegt, die Übersetzung gestartet, sie jedoch nicht abgeschlossen – und genau in diesem Zustand (Status „Veröffentlicht“) verschwindet die entsprechende Funktion. Es ist nur aktiv, sofern das "+" zur Anlage der Sprache ersichtlich ist: versteckter Link.
