Dieses Thema ist gelöst. Hier finden Sie eine Beschreibung des Problems und der Lösung.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where strings in the translation dashboard appear as "not completed" despite being translated into German. These strings show a green check mark for German, and there are no other languages involved.
Solution:
We explained that strings in WPML are global texts from plugins, themes, or widgets, and not tied to specific pages or posts. It's important to note that not all strings need to be translated unless they appear untranslated on the website's front end. WPML automatically detects new or updated strings, which can cause them to reappear as "not completed" due to dynamic text reloading by some plugins or themes. As long as the website appears correctly translated on the front end, these strings can be safely ignored. If there are missing translations on the live site, or if further clarification is needed, we recommend visiting our support forum. Additionally, it's advisable to check related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and ensure that the latest versions of themes and plugins are installed. If the issue persists or seems unrelated to this explanation, please open a new support ticket.

Hello,
my site language is german. But I have 3 pages in the translation dashboards full of english strings which show up as "not completed" although I have already translated them several times into german. The show up with a green check mark for german and I don't have other languages. Why are they "not completed"?

When I translate these strings in string translation or by sending them to translation from the dashboard they disappear as "not completed" but when I check it e.g. on the next day, they appear again as "not completed"

Hello there Thomas,

Thank you for sharing the details. Before answering your question directly. Strings are texts that WPML registers globally — they aren’t tied to any specific page or post. These strings often come from plugins, themes, or widgets and are part of the general interface or layout.

The important thing to know is that not all of these strings actually need to be translated. If you don’t see them appearing untranslated on the front end of your website, there’s no need to worry about them or mark them as completed.

WPML automatically picks up new or updated strings as your site loads different content. Because of that, it's normal for some strings to reappear as "not completed" even if you’ve translated them before. This is usually caused by the way some plugins or themes dynamically reload or refresh text.

As long as your website looks properly translated on the front end, you can safely ignore those strings that keep showing up again in the dashboard. They don’t indicate any issue unless you notice missing translations on the live site. Please let me know if that's the case, and if you have any questions.

Hi Lucas,
thank you! You're right, there is no problem on the site. The strings are correctly translated.
I use the translation dashboard to see if there are any new strings to be translated because I don't want WPML to search and automatically translate. Not all strings (like on the backend) need to be translated for me. It would just cost money and time to check. So it's a bit annoying to see translated strings as "not completed". But it's ok, I can live with that knowing there's no real issue.
Best regards,
Thomas

Lucas, please change the ticket title to "Translations not completed". I had a mistype there but I can't change the title. Thank you!
