Problem: My Footer in Astra / Elementor has strings from Mailerlite newsletter signup form. I managed to have them scanned by adding the plugin to the XML config section.
Now though, after the original English text was changed, it won't update in the string translation panel. The old English text is there, and the translation is not shown.
Solution: I searched in our forum about similar tickets and it seems Mailster plugin is not compatible with WPML, however I found a workaround for this issue: I created a test form that will act as the French form (for testing purposes only) and as I don't know Mailster I just leaved with the text by default. Then I edited the footer and manually switched languages using the admin menu at the top, which allowed me to edit the French version of the Footer. Once in the French version I manually added the shortcode for the new form and saved the changes.
Problem: You are receiving an error stating 'REST API is disabled, blocking some features of WPML' despite having the REST API enabled and installing the latest version of WPML. Solution: We have identified this issue as a false positive, meaning the error appears even though the REST API is functioning correctly in your environment. You can safely dismiss this error message. This issue has been encountered by other clients as well, and dismissing the error has been the recommended approach. For more details, you can refer to a similar case discussed in our forums: WPML support forum.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Additionally, you can open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.
2. Please make sure that you first create a full website backup so that you are safe no matter what happens.
3. The oldest version you are able to download from that link is "3.8.3". After that, I recommend that you update to each new major version (3.9, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3).
You can also try to create a full website backup first and then update to the latest version and see what happens - it there's gonna be serious errors and not simple notifications, then please update gradually.
Problem:
The client noticed a very high level of request made by WPML resulting in lot of data loaded in wp_options from icl_sitepress_settings (337580)
Solution:
The tabel row icl_sitepress_settings on wp_options keeps important information about settings and translations. It is not recommended to delete any values.
Problem:
The user was not able to access the translated site. Solution:
The pages some how lost language informations and became all registered in the primary language.
The translation needs to change the langueg and link to the original translations. Relevant Documentation: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/
Problem:
When attempting to connect content in one language as a translation of content in another language (pages and posts), some items do not show up in the list and therefore cannot be assigned as a translation.
Solution:
This is due to records in the database icl_translations that indicate that an item is in the process of being translated. This can happen due to a number of reasons but if you are certain that the items are not currently being translated, you can clean up the database manually:
Manually remove icl_translations table:
- Back up the database
- Run the following statement to find translations that are marked as currently being translated:
[php]SELECT * FROM icl_translations WHERE element_id IS NULL
- Find the records you are confident are not being translated and delete them from the database.
Problem:
Need to find the Divi Search Results page string Results for "%1$s" in order to translate it.
Solution:
This is a Theme Builder string under the et_builder domain that.
I was able to get the string to show up under WPML -> String Translation by scanning the theme for translatable strings. You can do this in the future by following these steps:
To scan for and register theme strings:
- Go to WPML -> Theme and plugins localization
- Scroll down to the Strings in the themes section
- Find Divi and check the box next to it
- Click the Scan selected themes for strings button
To translate the string:
- Go to WPML -> String Translation
- Search for the string using the search and filter options
- The correct string to translate in this case found under the et_builder Domain
- Click on translations next to the string to provide your translations
- Check the box next to Translation is complete
- Click the Save button
