Dieses Thema ist gelöst. Hier finden Sie eine Beschreibung des Problems und der Lösung.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues where manually set links in the Spanish translation are overwritten after saving and closing the ATE Editor, this might be due to the settings used during the translation process. Specifically, the problem occurs when the 'Overwrite existing translations' option is selected in the Translation Dashboard, causing the translation memory to be ignored and the content, including URLs, to be translated anew.
Solution:
We recommend checking if the 'Overwrite existing translations' option was selected when you sent the page for translation. If this option was enabled, it would cause the manually adjusted links to be overwritten by the original links during the translation process. To avoid this issue, ensure that this option is not selected when sending content for translation, allowing the translation memory to preserve manually made changes.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hello,
I have a German-language website whose content has been automatically translated into Spanish.
I would now like to manually adjust individual links in the Spanish version using the ATE Editor.

Problem:
The manually set links in the Spanish translation are overwritten as soon as I save and close the ATE Editor.
This means that the changes are not permanent.

Behavior in detail
These are mainly YouTube links, which:
are not always translated automatically
and can therefore only be found in the ATE Editor using the search function.
After manual adjustment in the editor:
the links are initially displayed correctly,
but are reset after saving/closing.

Comparison test:
For the test, I:
created a new page
inserted a Powerpack video module
adjusted the translation in the ATE Editor using the same method

➡️ Result:
Everything works fine on the test page – the manually adjusted links remain in place.

Affected page:
The problem can be reproduced on the following page:
versteckter Link

Exclusion of possible causes:
We have already consulted with the provider.
A problem with the domain or URL structure can be ruled out.

Question:
Why is it that the manually adjusted links on this page are overwritten by the ATE Editor, while it works correctly on new pages?

Thank you

Hi Martin,

I’m Long from the WPML Development team, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

I understand that you want to update the YouTube URL in the Advanced Translation Editor in the second language so the translation URL is different from the original and after completing the translation in ATE, you open the ATE again and see it is not saved.

I've tried to reproduce the issue on my site but didn't see that, as you test on a new page.

However, I see that you've translated the page versteckter Link from German to Spanish on 26/11/2025 2 times with the same credits. It looks like you selected the option "Overwrite existing translations" when sending the page to automatic translation in the Translation Dashboard because it is translated completely, is that right?

Please notice that, if you select this option, the translation memory will be ignored and content will be translated as new. So the updated URL that you use will be ignored and the translation engine will use the original when translating content.

If that is not your case, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site so I can take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.

❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
