Dieses Thema ist gelöst. Hier finden Sie eine Beschreibung des Problems und der Lösung.

Problem:
The client has translated their website from German to English using WPML and is facing an issue where product category images are not displayed in the English version, although they appear normally in the German version. Additionally, only 3 out of 6 product categories are displayed in the English version.
Solution:
To address the issue of missing category thumbnails, we recommend the following steps:
1. Navigate to WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translation.
2. Click on "Show system fields", then search for '_thumbnail_id' in the custom field translation section.
3. Set the translation preference for '_thumbnail_id' to 'Copy'.
4. Go to Products > Categories and use the 'Quick Edit' option below the category name, then save without making changes.

To ensure all categories appear in the English version:
1. Go to WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories and verify that all categories are translated into English.
2. Check that these categories contain products. If not, translate the products and assign them to the respective categories.
3. If categories still do not appear, use the 'synchronize categories with products' button at the bottom of the WooCommerce Multilingual Categories section.

If these steps do not resolve your issues or if the solution seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

To reduce the waiting time, I took this ticket and responded in English. Please let me know if you're okay with it or if you want to continue the conversation in German language. I will check and forward this ticket to one of our German-speaking supporters to assist you in the German language.

I understand that the category thumbnail is not showing correctly for the translated category. While reviewing the WPML debug info, I noticed that the field containing the thumbnail is not configured correctly for translation, which could be causing the issue. Please try the following steps and see if they resolve the problem:

1. Go to "WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translation."
2. Scroll to the 'Custom Field Translation' section and click on "Show system fields."
3. The page will refresh. In the custom field translation section, enter 'thumbnail' in the search box.
4. You should see a field named '_thumbnail_id' in the results. Set the translation preference for this field to 'Copy.'
5. Now, go to "Products > Categories."
6. Click on the `Quick Edit` button below the category name.
7. Click on the Save button without making any changes.

I hope the steps will help to resolve the issue. But, if you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello Prosenjit,

thank you for your help, it is better now, but not perfect.

In german version 6 product categories are shown and in the english version only 3 product categories are shown (better then before anyways)

Is it possible to show the same amount of product categories (6) in both languages?

Hi There,
Thank you for the update.

For other languages, categories will appear on the frontend if:

- The category has been translated.
- The category contains at least one product.

To see the same number of categories in the English version, please follow these steps:

1. Go to WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories and ensure that the categories have been translated into English.

2. If the categories are translated, check the English categories to ensure they contain products. If you haven't translated the products yet, please translate them so they can be assigned to the correct category. According to WooCommerce rules, categories without products will not appear on the frontend.

3. If the category contains products but still does not show on the frontend, go to WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories section. At the bottom of this section, you'll see a button to synchronize the categories with products. Click on this button and wait for the process to complete. Once finished, the products and their categories should be correctly synchronized across the languages.

I hope the information above will help to display the categories correctly in the English language. If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
