Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where despite setting the taxonomy to "Translatable - show only translated items" and enabling the option "redirect to default if translation doesn't exist", pages in other languages are still indexed and displayed. This is occurring with taxonomies but not with posts.
Solution:
1. We acknowledged that this is a known issue with WPML, which you can read about here: WPML Errata.
2. We confirmed that the URLs in question do not appear in the sitemaps, which means they are not crawled by search engines, thus not posing an SEO issue.
3. We advised the installation of the WPML SEO bridge plugin when using the Yoast SEO plugin with WPML to handle sitemaps correctly.
