Reported for: WPML String Translation 3.2.16
Overview of the issue
After updating to WordPress 6.7, users report that some WooCommerce Germanized Pro strings appear in English instead of the site’s default language (German). The issue affects both backend and frontend translations.
The problem persists partially even after updating WPML String Translation to version 3.2.16, which resolved related issues for other plugins.
Workaround
Our development team is working on this issue as it indicates an edge case specific to WooCommerce Germanized.
In the meantime, temporarily revert to WordPress 6.6.2 while awaiting a complete fix.
Hi WPML team,
this issue is at least partly related to the custom translations created by WPML in wp-content/languages/wpml, in our case we somehow had translated Germanized via WPML at some point. Somehow WPML keeps loading an old version of this translation or is not able to identify the correct translation and reverts back to English.
To fix:
– Go to wp-content/languages/wpml
– Look for custom plugin/theme/string translations created by WPML
– Back them up locally
– Then delete the affected files (in our case it was the woocommerce-germanized-de_DE.po and .mo)
– Make sure to inspect them case by case to not lose any translations.
Thanks to the amazing Germanized support for making us aware of this solution. Hopefully the WPML team finds a fix to this issue.
