Overview of the issue

Using WooCommerce’s built-in import tool to import variable products is not currently supported. This issue occurs because WooCommerce’s import tool skips duplicate SKUs, and WPML’s synchronization process does not correctly copy the SKU from the original variation to its translated version.

Symptoms:

  • Translated product variations are missing SKUs after import.
  • The parent product retains its SKU, but its variations do not.
  • If you check the translated variation in the WordPress Editor, it incorrectly displays the parent product’s SKU instead of its own.

Workaround

Please, make sure of having a full site backup of your site before proceeding.

  • Download the following patch plugin.
  • Install it in your plugins directory and activate it.
  • Run the import process.
