Yoast SEO primary category is not synchronized with translations

Overview of the issue

If you have WooCommerce products with several categories, the Yoast SEO plugin allows you to set one of the categories as primary. However, if you translate your product, this feature does not synchronize in the secondary language.

Workaround

We don’t normally recommend translating your products manually using the WordPress editor, however this may help you as a temporary workaround:

  1. Open your product.
  2. Click on the top bar language switcher to switch to your secondary language.
  3. Select a primary category.
  4. Save your product.
  5. Return to the main language.
