Problem: The client has set up the language switcher but it only shows the default language without the option to select other languages, even though there are 3 languages set up including English. Solution: We recommend checking if the content on the site has been translated and published. A common reason for the language switcher to display only the default language is that the content for the other languages might not be translated yet, or the translations are still in 'draft' or 'under review' status. Ensure that the pages you are looking at have their translations completed and published.

Problem: The client is unable to find certain menu and submenu pages in the string translation section, although they appear in the WP menu sync marked as "Not Translated". Additionally, the language widget is not displaying multiple language options, only the primary language.
Solution: If the menu items that are not appearing are custom URL menu items, they can be found in String Translation under the 'menu name' text-domain. We recommend following this guide for translating custom links: Translating Menus.

Problem: The client was unable to see the Chinese Traditional translation in the String Translation section, even after increasing PHP limits and creating a staging site.
Solution: We recommended the client to perform a series of troubleshooting steps after ensuring a full site backup. These steps included clearing the WPML cache, removing ghost entries, fixing collations, setting language information, assigning translation status, fixing terms count, and optimizing string tables. Despite these steps, the issue persisted.
We then requested access to the client's site for further investigation and suggested making a duplicator copy of the site for debugging on a local server. We also asked for permission to convert the chat to a ticket for detailed debugging.
Upon further investigation, we identified that the issue was a rare bug that caused some string translations to be missing from the database. We found that the string 'ISLANDS' had lost its translation on a specific date but could be retranslated without issues. We provided a screencast demonstrating the solution and asked the client to share a screencast if the problem continued.
