I understand what you're looking for. To automatically translate the content, you’ll need to purchase translation credits or enable the Pay-as-you-go subscription for credits. You can translate the posts using automatic translation (you can send all the posts to automatic translation from inside WPML > Translation Management).
Still, if you want to use the "translate everything automatically" functionality, you can't enable it only for articles; it will be enabled for all the content inside the website.

Can you explain to me how machine translation works?
Do I need to give manual input or does it automatically translate as soon as the system creates an article without me doing anything?
It works automatically, as soon as WPML detects that new content has been created (as long as "translate everything automatically" is enabled).
If you are sending a post manually for automatic translation, it will translate it automatically as soon as WPML gets access to the content from that page through the job translation process that's being created when you send it for translation.
