Problem:
The client was unable to register and update WPML and Toolset on their site. They encountered issues with the site key not matching and were unsure how to proceed with registration and updates.
Solution:
We advised the client to ensure that the domain used for the WPML key matches the domain where WPML is actually being used. This involved creating a new WPML key specifically for the domain that the site redirects to. Here are the steps we recommended:
1. Visit your account page at https://wpml.org/account/sites/
2. Delete the existing site key.
3. Navigate to Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial tab.
4. Click on "Unregister WPML from this site".
5. Click on "Register WPML".
6. Click on "Get a key for this site".
7. Create the new key and use it to register WPML.
Additionally, we confirmed that WPML would function correctly for users accessing the site through different URLs as set up for legal reasons between two countries. We also advised on checking the usage of the Toolset plugin and suggested deactivating it if it was not in use to save server resources.
