WordPress 6.7: "You attempted to edit an item that doesn't exist" with Translated Post Type Slugs

Overview of the issue

When editing Custom Post Types using slugs with non-Latin characters, you will encounter the error:
“You attempted to edit an item that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?”

This issue was introduced in WordPress 6.7 and it is not related to WPML. You will experience the same situation without WPML and using a non-Latin character slug for your Custom Post Type.

Workaround

This bug has been reported to WordPress Trac:
https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/62776

In the meantime:

• You can use a Latin Characters Slug in WPML → Settings → Post Types Translation.

or

• Switch to Classic Editor. Install and activate the Classic Editor plugin to bypass the issue in Gutenberg.
