Overview of the Issue
If you are using WPML, you may experience significant slowness in the backend of your WordPress site. This issue is accompanied by a large number of duplicated queries, particularly related to icl_background_task table.
Workaround
This issue is fixed in WPML 4.7. Updating solves it on your site, so you only need this workaround if you can’t update yet.
Please, make sure of having a full backup of your site before proceeding.
Then, access to your database and truncate the icl_background_task table.
