I am trying to translate all subpages from German to English which worked well so far. Unfortunately, the ATE seems to split up what was one paragraph in the original language into multiple paragraphs randomly.

I understand the issue you're experiencing. This typically occurs when paragraphs are translated in smaller segments. In our updated Translation Editor, we've introduced an option to enable translation in larger segments, which helps maintain the original formatting of the paragraph in the translation.
Could you please enable that option and then try translating the page again? To enable that option -
- Open the translation editor and click on the 'Gear' icon in the top right corner.
- Enable "I prefer bigger segments" as shown on this screenshot: versteckter Link
- Exit from the Editor.
- Open the default page in the WordPress editor and Make a small change in the Page title.
- Update the changes and then proceed to update the translation.
The paragraph will hopefully now appear in a single segment in the translation editor, and once you translate the entire segment, the translated paragraph should have the same formatting as the original.

I followed your steps as proposed and activated the "I prefer bigger segments" option, as well as having refreshed the original content and refreshing the translation.
I'm sorry to hear that enabling the Bigger Segment option didn't resolve the issue. To determine whether the problem is specific to the new ATE or also occurs in the previous ATE, could you please switch to the previous ATE and check if you experience any issues there?
– Go to the top right corner of the translation editor
– Click the gear icon
– Enable the option “Use the previous version of the Advanced Translation Editor.”
– Refresh the page.
- Check if the paragraph is appearing in the editor. If it’s split into multiple segments, join them by clicking the link icon (screenshot: versteckter Link) and then add the translation without any line breaks.

I tried to use the previous version of ATE (it was already switched on due to another bug with translating the "&" symbol) but still the issue persists. Also switching to the new version doesn't seem to make a difference.
The segments are already linked. Also in the code everything seems clean, so no special formatting e.g. which could explain this behaviour. Many paragraphs work as desired, other paragraphs are split up for no reason.
If you have further ideas on how to tackle this, I'm happy to hear them. 🙂

I reviewed our system and found that the page was automatically translated into English. Upon inspecting the translation file delivered to your site, I noticed that the file contains line breaks, which WPML is converting into `<br>` tags. This is causing the sentences to appear on separate lines.
I've updated the ATE settings to ignore the breaks on your site. Could you please follow these steps to see if this resolves the issue?
1. Open the default page in the WordPress Editor and make a small change in the title.
2. Update the page and then proceed to update the translation.
3. In the translation editor, make some changes in the translated paragraph, ensuring that the sentences are not on separate lines, and then save the translation.
