Problem:
The client experienced issues with products on their Dutch site not being correctly linked to the corresponding products on their English site after switching between translation editors and modes.
Solution:
We advised the client to avoid frequently switching between the Classic Translation Editor and the Advanced Translation Editor, as this can lead to inconsistencies in product linking. Instead, choose one editor and stick with it consistently across all products. If manual edits are necessary for specific products, maintain those products in manual translation mode only.
To correct the existing linking issues, the client should:
1. Disconnect the primary language product translations as explained here https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-disconnect-translations-from-the-default-language-page-or-post/
2. Reconnect the products to the correct translations as detailed here https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/
Additionally, if the client does not intend to use automatic translations on their test site, they should select "No" when asked to share credits between sites.
