This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
You are working on a site under development and trying to update the WPML plugins but encounter an error indicating that WPML needs to connect to its server for new releases and security updates. The error suggests that something in the network or security settings is preventing this communication.
Solution:
We recommend checking the WPML > Support > Installer support page. After clicking the "check" button, observe if there are two green check icons at the top. If you see any red X-ses, this indicates that certain domains might be blocked by your hosting provider. Please contact your hosting provider to ensure that the following domains are not blocked:
- wpml.org
- cdn.wpml.org
- api.wpml.org
- api.toolset.com
- cloudfront.net
After making these changes, please check again to see if the issue is resolved.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.
