has nothing to do with the content being translated but seems to somehow be stored incorrectly somewhere in WPML

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

Please let me know if you mean the translated string or the default language string. If you mean the default language string, please share a screen-recorded video while reproducing the issue.

Best regards,
Osama

there's nothing else I could show you in a screen recording that is not clearly visible in the screenshot.

A completely wrong suggestion is stored in WPML instead of actually translating the string

Hi,

Please share the post/page name and URL to check the issue.

I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for the access details. Please share the URL of the problematic post and the targeted language.

Also, please try the following steps:

1- Edit this page/post in the default language
2- Add "V2" to the title and update it
3- Delete the "V2" and update the page/post
4- Update the translation
5- Inside the translation editor, delete the wrong translation
6- Click on the "automatic translation" icon (Kindly check the attached screenshot)
7- Check if it will generate the correct translation

Best regards,
Osama

i duplicate this template which is entirely empty:

I then insert everything manually from scratch in English, and only then I runthe ATE, and it keeps pulling in strings as shown above that I never entered into the new post

Hi,

I duplicated the template, created a new test post, and then translated the post, which worked correctly. (hidden link)

When you see a string with a Yellow/Orange color, this string is from WPML translation memory, so you need to delete it and add the new translation.

Osama

Hi,

You can add this string to the Glossary and add its correct translation. Please check this guide. (https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/)

Hi,

When checking the translation editor. There are two strings with this issue.(hidden link)

* Table of contents
* Button 2

Please add these two strings to the glossary with the correct translation and check if that will fix the issue.

Best regards,
Osama

for example, this is the faulty string, see attachment

this is the Spanish example, so what has to be inserted where exactly? see attachment two. since the origin seems to be a faulty English string

Hi,

I added them. (hidden link)

Please go to the translation editor, delete the translation memory translation, and click the glossary item. Kindly check this video. (hidden link)

Osama
