Background of the issue:
I mainly use automatic "tag sync" proposed by WPML to sync the tags for my 2600+ products on my site hidden link.
Symptoms:
Tags for the page hidden link are incorrect. In French, the tags are 'aile, automobile', but in English, they are 'sea, sun', which seem to belong to another work.
Questions:
Is there a way to make a resync without having to do it manually for each one?
Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps after a full site backup{mandatory} and make sure the issue exists or not.
1) Upgrade to the latest version of WPML (4.7.4 series). You may have to visit Plugins>>Add New>>Commercial tab and click on the *Check for updates* button to get the WPML automatic upgrade links of the latest version. This step will help us refresh the installer caches.
2) Go to WPML>>Support page, click on the Troubleshooting link (blue link in the middle of the page)
3) On the Troubleshooting page, please click on the following options of the *Clean up* section. Wait for confirmation of processing after each one.
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Fix WPML tables collation
- Assign translation status to duplicated content
- Fix terms count
- Fix post type assignment
- Cleanup and optimize string tables
Then try this:
• ❌ Please make a full website backup before proceeding ❌
• Go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation → Choose “Product tags” → Hierarchy Synchronization → click “Update taxonomy hierarchy”. This forces WPML to re‑assign every tag across languages.
• Next, open WPML → Support → Troubleshooting and run “Synchronize post taxonomies” for Products.
• Purge server/Site‑cache and resave permalinks.
• Bulk update others via WooCommerce → WooCommerce Multilingual → Products → “Synchronize”.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue.
It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site.
This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.
**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields.
Best Regards,
Otto
